Taco Casa, Vicksburg, MS

Taco Casa

MAP

Taco Casa is a small Mexican cafe in Vicksburg on Pemberton Square Boulevard just south of Interstate 20 west of Halls Ferry Road. I was on vacation a couple of weeks ago and stopped by for dinner on the way home.

The food was really and the prices were reasonable. The nachos were only about $6 and my total bill was only about $14 if I remember correctly. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area.

Misc fun trip:

Birthplace of Kermit the Frog Museum in Leland, MS. It's free but you can make a donation if you choose to.

Bartlett Breakfast Factory, Bartlett, TN

Bartlett Breakfast Factory

MAP

Bartlett Breakfast Factory is a relatively new breakfast/lunch restaurant on Stage Road right at the corner of Mercury Street. It used to be Mama's Barbecue.

I went there about a week ago with a friend for the first time and was really impressed. The food and the service was excellent. The prices were reasonable for what I got, which was a basic breakfast place with pancakes, sausage, and eggs. The owners (I assume) were really nice.

I will definitely be back! There were several lunch items that sounded really good but I was there pretty early before their lunch hours.

Sippin' Silo, Southaven, MS

Sippin' Silo

Sippin' Silo is a new wine bar in Southaven in the Silo Square complex. I'm not much for wine myself but I saw they had cheese and a regular menu as well. I went there a few weeks ago and I really liked it.

I ordered a charcuterie board and a ham sandwich. I don't remember the exact total but for what I got it was very reasonable, especially considering the location. Some restaurants in Silo Square seem to be unnecessarily expensive.

I will definitely be back. It seems to be a popular location.

Other recent trips:

Fuddrucker's, Tunica, MS - nachos, my friend got a burger and fish.

Georgia Blue, Southaven, MS

Georgia Blue

MAP

Georgia Blue is a new restaurant in the Southaven Silo Square. I went there a couple of weeks ago and frankly, I wasn't impressed. It wasn't cheap, which is not surprising considering the location, and the food was mediocre.

I ordered an appetizer of queso and it had zero taste, and it was $10. My main entree was chicken Parmesan and it was okay but nothing great. The salad was also okay but to be fair the dressing was pretty good.

Also, the tea was terrible so I asked if I could exchange it for a Diet Coke and was charged for both drinks. The service was also fairly slow and they were not very busy.

My total was something around $60 and for what I got and the quality it was not worth it. I've heard some people say the food was good there but I've heard several people say they had an experience similar to mine.

Sorry Georgia Blue, I was not impressed.

Osaka, Memphis, TN

Osaka

MAP

Osaka is a Japanese restaurant with several locations. I've been to the one on Poplar Avenue in Memphis just west of Highland Street a couple of times recently. The food has been really good and the service is as well.

I don't remember the exact prices but they are reasonable for what you get. I have enjoyed it every time and will be back.

Local Lime, Germantown, TN

Local Lime

MAP

Local Lime is a Mexican inspired restaurant in Germantown in the Saddle Creek Shopping Center which is on the northwest corner of Poplar Avenue and Gernantown Road. I had never heard of it but went there with some friends after a music gig this Sunday afternoon.

The food was fantastic. The service was good but seemed a little slow considering they weren't all that busy but I don't have any actual complaint.

I ordered the Dixon Chicken enchilada and it was fantastic. It came with rice and black beans and the rice appeared to be cooked in or infused with lime. It was great.

They also have a salsa "flight"where you pick three types of salsa. My friend ordered since most of had never been there. Everything was great. I think she ordered the house tomato, Caribbean mango, and the verde tomatillo.

The prices were surprisingly reasonable for what seemed like a semi-upscale restaurant in Germantown. My total with a drink was under $30. I'm not sure if the salsa flight is including in the price or if my friend paid for it on her check.

I will definitely be back!
