Oishi is a small Japanese restaurant in Olive Branch on Camp Creek Boulevard east of Highway 78 and north of Highway 302 behind where the Huey's is. I went there this past Saturday with a friend based on his suggestion.

Honestly, I forgot the names of the rolls I ordered but they were very good. My friend and I also split an order of pan seared dumplings. Everything was very good and the prices were very reasonable. I spent a little over $20 for everything including a drink.

I will definitely go back and I recommend trying them out.

The Crossing is a bar and grill on Hacks Cross Road in Olive Branch, about two blocks north of Highway 302. I went there a couple of weeks ago for dinner and was pleasantly surprised.

I wasn't expecting them to be bad, I was just expecting it to be a loud and rowdy bar with typical bar food, but it wasn't. They did have karaoke that night but it wasn't loud and annoying and they had a pretty good selection of items on the menu.

I ordered fried shrimp with a baked potato and an appetizer of chips and queso and all of it was really good. The service was really good and the price was reasonable. It was less than $30 for everything including a drink.

Another nice perk is they are open kind of late. I went over there around 11:00 PM that night. Very few full service restaurants are open past 9 or 10 PM near me.

I definitely recommend them and I'll be back.

La Cocina is a Mexican restaurant on Millbranch Road a block or so south of I-240 Nonconnah Boulevard. I went there yesterday for lunch and it was very good. There is a restaurant in Bartlett, TN called Cocina Mexicana (no "La" in the name) and as far as I can tell they are not related. I have been to that restaurant as well and reviewed it previously on my blog.

I ordered the Fiesta Fajita Quesadilla which is a quesadilla with chicken, chorizo, and shrimp and really liked it.

The prices are reasonable. My total with everything including queso and a drink was about $22 or $23 which is about what I pay at most other places.

If you like Mexican restaurants, you will like them!

 Also, they are a "posted property" if that matters to you.

Belaire is a bar and grill on South Avalon Street in West Memphis a little south of East Broadway Boulevard. I went there tonight specifically to try the catfish based on a review I saw a few days ago.

There was a DJ tonight and the music was very loud and I was the only white guy there (that doesn't bother me, it's just worth noting). The doorman was very nice and mentioned that during lunchtime it's much less rowdy but I was welcome any time.

I ordered catfish and it was really good. I got the three piece and it came with fries. The service was really good and the food came out pretty fast. The total before tip was $21. It's also worth nothing the only non alcoholic drinks they have are canned Coke and Sprite.

For reference, they are a "posted" property and there was a security guard outside the door and he wanded me as I went in but apparently the wand was set to a very low sensitivity setting.

 I really liked the food and I would definitely go back.

Memphis Whistle is mainly a cocktail bar but they have some food items. I heard that they had a great sausage and cheese plate but it turns out that was a one time special a few weeks ago. They are located on Young Avenue a block on so west of East Parkway South.

Tonight I ordered a muffuletta pizza and house made chips and queso and both were great. The total was about $48 before tip which was a little more than I expected but that included three canned drinks and the pizza was large enough that I took half of it home so overall the price wasn't really that bad.

There are only a few food items on the menu so keep that in mind if you go there. I was highly impressed by what I got.

Flights is a relatively new fish and wings place in Horn Lake on Highway 51 about two blocks south of Goodman Road. I went there a few weeks ago but did not know they closed early. Check their website. Some days they are open until 8 but some days they close at 6 or 4.

I went back a few days ago for lunch and was really impressed. I got shrimp and fries and with a drink my total before tip was around $12 and the food was really good.

I definitely recommend them and I will be back!

Urban Fusion is an Asian bistro on Goodman Road a couple of blocks east of Pleasant Hill Road in Olive Branch. I went there a couple of nights ago after running an errand in the area.

The service was good (although it seemed a little slow considering they weren't that busy but no complaints) and the food was really good.

I ordered Chicken Teriyaki which came with a salad and soup and I also ordered a spicy salmon roll. Everything was really good and there was plenty left over.

The price was very reasonable for what I got. Including a drink and tax the total was around $28. 

I definitely recommend them and I will be back.

Sensational Wings 2 is a relatively new wings place on Millbranch Road in Southaven just a little north of Stateline Road. We ordered from there a couple of weeks ago at work and I thought it was good.

I'm not a huge fan of wings so I got a cheeseburger and I liked it. I don't remember the exact price but it seemed about the same as most other places. I would recommend trying them out.

Yaya's is a serve yourself frozen yogurt cafe on the north side of the Square in Oxford at North Lamar Avenue.

 

I went there last weekend and we stopped in for a dessert after eating at Boure. It was really good and the staff was very friendly. They charge by the ounce based on how much you get but the prices seemed to be pretty average compared to other similar places I've been. My cup was about $7 for the yogurt and toppings I got.

I definitely enjoyed it and would recommend it if you like frozen yogurt.

I don't normally review chain restaurants but I went there a couple of weeks ago because I had a gift card and to be fair, it was pretty good. It's not my first choice for wings but it was good.

Viejo Vallarta is a relatively new Mexican restaurant in Olive Branch on Hacks Cross Road about two blocks north of Highway 302. I went there a few weeks ago for the first time and was really impressed. They have you usual Mexican fare and I ordered a chicken quesadilla. The prices were about the same as most places and the service was very good.

I highly recommend trying them out.

I've been to Walk-Ons 4 or 5 times and every time but once they got my order wrong. This time I ordered Alligator Bites but they brought the Boudin instead. It was good, it just wasn't what I ordered.
