Uncle Goyo's, Germantown, TN

Uncle Goyo's

MAP

Uncle Goyo's is a relatively new Mexican restaurant in Germantown on Germantown Road in the new center that is at Neshoba Road. The shops have their own parking but you have to pull in off Neshoba and then pull into the center's parking area.

I went there a few weeks ago for the first time and was really impressed. I ordered a chicken quesadilla nganas and I didn't really know what that meant but the waiter said it was a quesadilla that came with a soup for dipping.

The prices were reasonable considering it's in a "fancy" new shopping center in Germantown. It was really good and I will definitely go back.

O'Charley's, Olive Branch, MS

O'Charley's

MAP

O'Charley's is a well known chain restaurant and I normally don't review chains but this is the last one left in the area. I don't know why all the other locations closed but this one is still there.

I went there a few weeks ago while in the area and honestly, it was pretty good. I would go back. The prices are about the same as other similar chains like Chili's.

If you like O'Charley's I recommend this location.

I got the same thing I used to always get at the location in Memphis, chicken tenders, a potato, and a salad. I also got an order of fried mozzarella.

Memphis Best Soul Food, Memphis, TN

Memphis Best Soul Food

MAP

Memphis Best is a cafe style restaurant on Third Street a little south of South Parkway East. I went there a few weeks ago for lunch.

To be honest, I was a little disappointed. I had heard good things about it but none of the food I got had much taste. It's possible I went on a bad day but that was just my experience. They were very busy so they seem to be popular and because of that I will try again one day.

I ordered baked chicken, mac and cheese, and black eyed peas.

The prices were decent for the amount of food I got though. If you give them try and have a different experience let me know.

Las Margarita's, West Memphis, AR

Las Margarita's

MAP

Las Margarita's is a Mexican restaurant on Ingram Boulevard in West Memphis right by the Southland Casino. I went there a few nights ago.

It was decent but nothing spectacular. I had been to one of the other locations previously and thought it was great. This night I ordered chicken and rice. There was nothing wrong with it, it was just average.

The price was reasonable and I will go back and try it again.

Wilson Cafe, Wilson, AR

Wilson Cafe

MAP

Wilson Cafe is a small semi-upscale cafe in Wilson, AR at the corner of North Jefferson Street and Highway 61. I've been there numerous times now but decided a while back to always give them their own independent listing.

I hadn't been in a while and it was fantastic as always!

I got blackened catfish over mashed potatoes and vegetables, a Caesar salad, an order of deviled eggs, and a half piece of Oreo pie. The pie was huge even though my friend and I split it. My friend ordered short ribs I believe.

The prices are reasonable for what you get but not cheap. I think my total was around $75.

The food and service has always been great and I highly recommend them! It's worth the drive, which is only about an hour from me and a little less if you're in Memphis.

Rotolo's Pizzaria, Southaven, MS

Rotolo's

MAP

Rotolo's is an Italian pizzeria in Southaven, MS in Silo Square. I didn't know it was a chain until just now and I don't normally review chain restaurants but it's new to Southaven.

I went there a few weeks ago and it was pretty good. I had heard good things about and I liked it. I've had a few lackluster experiences with restaurants in Silo Square but this one was good.

It wasn't the best I've ever had but it was good. I got lasagna and a slice of pizza. I don't remember the exact price but it was pretty reasonable considering that some of the new restaurants in that area are kind of expensive.

This is one I would I recommend!

Sizzlin' Skillet, West Memphis, AR

Sizzlin' Skillet

MAP

Sizzlin' Skillet is a cafeteria/full service restaurant in West Memphis on Glen Bailey Drive east of North Missouri Street. This is the new location but the website still shows the old location.

I've been to the old location once and the new location once. It was very good! I don't really remember how much it was but it was very reasonably priced. The new location is cafeteria style but the waitress brings the food to you after you tell her what you want.

The first time I got chicken and a piece of Salisbury steak along with mac and cheese and potatoes.

The second time I got meat loaf which I normally don't care for (long back story, there's nothing wrong with it, it's just not usually something I order) and broccoli and cheese, black eyed peas, and mashed potatoes, and also got some banana pudding which is also unusual. I normally don't get dessert. It was all very good!

The service was very good as well and I will be back!

Grand Pacific Buffet, Bartlett, TN

Grand Pacific

MAP

Grand Pacific is an Asian buffet in Bartlett on Stage Road at the corner of Elmore Park Road. I've been there before but it was called something else back then. I was very pleased. It was standard Asian buffet fare along with an American section.

Of course, I got several different things including several different pieces of sushi. Everything was really good except for the chicken balls. They weren't bad, they just weren't anything I cared for. I would get them again I just liked the other things more.

The cheese stuffed mushrooms were particularly good! I went back and got more of those.

The price is really good considering inflation these days. The total was only about $22.00 including a drink.

I will definitely be back!

Pop's Deli, Memphis, TN

Pop's Deli

MAP

Pop's is a small deli on Shelby Drive just east of Ross Road. I went there for the first time a few weeks ago and I've already been back a couple of times. The prices are really reasonable and the food and service are great! I highly recommend them! They are open until 9 most nights and 10 on the weekends.

I have had a lamb and beef gyro, a Philly cheesesteak sandwich, a hot dog, and a piece of cheesecake. I have spent around $20 each time.

Petals of a Peony

MAP

Petals of a Peony is a Szechuan restaurant on Germantown Parkway just north of Cordova Road. I have been hearing great things about it for several months and finally got a chance to have lunch there a few weeks ago.

I don't remember the name of the dish but it was beef and broccoli and my friend and I also ordered spring rolls and some dumplings to split. The food was incredible and the prices were pretty reasonable. I think my total was around $20 or a little more.

I will definitely be back and I highly recommend it!
