Momma's Bar, Memphis, TN

Momma's

MAP

Momma's is a bar/lounge at the corner of Kentucky Street and E.H. Crump Boulevard in Memphis. It used to be called the Dirty Crow and I don't know if it's the same people or not. The menu seemed to be very similar but I didn't happen to ask if it was the same. I went there a few days ago for a late night dinner and it was great!

The service was really good and they weren't really all that busy for a Thursday night. When I first got there, several people at the bar were being loud and obnoxious but not long after I got there, they left. Keep in mind, it is definitely a bar. They also have an outside patio and had live music that night.

I ordered a pimento burger and fries and both were good and it was plenty of food. I had originally thought I was going to order an appetizer but I'm glad I didn't. I will definitely go back!

Other recent trips:

Pop's Comfort Kitchen, Bartlett, TN - chicken fried chicken

Juicy Seafood, Southaven, MS - catfish and shrimp basket

Gus's Chicken, Southaven, MS - chicken tenders

Moctezuma Grill, Forrest City, AR - the Moctezuma Chicken

Mike's Food and Gas Station, Walls, MS

MAP

Mike's is a gas station with a lunch counter in Walls, MS at the corner of Poplar Corner Road and Goodman Road. They don't seem to have a website. I went there a couple of weeks ago for lunch based on the suggestion of a coworker.

Normally I wouldn't review a gas station but the food was really good and reasonably priced. They have some typical gas station food but also had some atypical food as food. I ordered lasagna with mac and cheese and a piece of fish. The girl said it was cheaper to go ahead and get a one piece dinner so I got an order of mashed potatoes (yeah, a lot of starches that day).

Let me tell you, the food was great. The price for everything was only $12 and it was more than enough for two meals.

I will definitely go back! It's a great lunch deal.

Various Places, Savannah, TN

A couple of weeks ago I was in Savannah, TN visiting relatives and over the course of two days we ate at two places. I am putting them on the same page for brevity.

Mollie Monday's - club sandwich and one trip salad bar - very good, highly recommended

Los Potosina - shrimp, beef, chicken quesadilla - very good Mexican food

Yellowfin Hibachi and Sushi, Hernando, MS

Yellowfin

MAP

Yellowfin is a Japanese sushi restaurant in Hernando on McInvale Road just south of Commerce Street. I went there a few weeks ago with a friend on his suggestion. They had mixed reviews but what I got was really good. I ordered a Las Vegas Roll but I don't remember what the second one was, and a spring roll.

Everything was good but they were a little higher than the place I usually go for similar rolls. I will still go back though. The food was good.

Cream and Sugar Cafe, Iuka, MS

Cream and Sugar is a small cafe on Front Street at the corner of North Main Street in Iuka, MS. I went there a few weeks ago on suggestion of a friend while I was in the area visiting relatives.

I ordered a salsa burger with a salad. Both were good and the burger was great. I don't remember the price but it was reasonable for what I got. I will definitely go back.

Stage 64 Lounge, Bartlett, TN

Stage 64

MAP

Stage 64 is a bar/lounge on Highway 64 just a little east of Summer Avenue/Highway 79. I went there a few weeks ago for lunch one Sunday afternoon.

I ordered a cheese and sausage plate and an order of jalapeno poppers. Both were pretty good. The cheese plate had lots of cheese on it, more than most place although it doesn't really look like it in the picture. I don't remember the exact price but it was average. A friend of mine met me there and he got a burger and he said it was really good.

I will definitely go back.

Bites and Treats, Southaven, MS

Bites and Treats

MAP

Bites and Treats is a small cafe/laundry mat at the corner of Highway 51 and Rasco Road in Southaven, MS. I went there a few weeks ago. They sell various things but they have Mexican food and homemade ice cream. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and scoop of chocolate ice cream.

Both were very good. I don't remember the exact price was prices were pretty decent. They were a little slow BUT I got there just after they opened and was the first customer for the day so I'm sure it took a few minutes to get the griddle going. I will definitely be back!
