Elfo Grinsanti's, Southaven, MS

Grinsanti's

Grisanti's is relatively new Italian restaurant in Southaven on Getwell Road just north of Central Parkway. I went there this past week and it was fantastic. The Grinsanti family has and has had several restaurants in the Memphis area and Elfo Grisanti opened this location a few months ago.

I ordered the daily special which was salmon stuffed with cream cheese over garlic mashed potatoes and a wedge salad with real blue cheese dressing.

It was fantastic and so was the service. I would mention that they close relatively early. On Saturday nights they close at 8:00 PM but we were told that as long as you are in by 8 they will seat you.

It wasn't as expensive as I expected. The total without tip was under $60 but for what I got that and the service that was a very good price.

I forget what my friend got but he said it was very good also. I think he got a steak.

I definitely recommend them and will be back soon!

Antigua is a new Mexican restaurant on White Station near Summer Avenue, in the spot where Pancho's used to be in the Cloverleaf Shopping Center. I've heard very mixed reviews but decided to try to it a couple of weeks ago.

I ordered a chicken quesadilla and it was very good. My friend that met me there ordered a steak of some kind and he said it was very good also.

The prices were about the same as most Mexican places. My total before tip was about $16. I would definitely try them again and try some other items.

Highlander Pub, Collierville, TN

Highlander Pub

MAP

Highlander Pub is an Irish pub on the downtown Collierville square on the south east corner near the tracks. I went there this past Wednesday for lunch after running an errand near Collierville.

I was happy to find an Irish pub that had more than just fish and chips on the Irish menu. They have several things listed. I ordered bangers and mash which is mashed potatoes with sausage and a side order of buffalo mac and cheese.

To be honest, I was a little disappointed. Both items were okay but not as good as I was expecting. The mac and cheese looked great but didn't have any buffalo taste at all. It tasted just like regular mac and cheese. The service was really good though and everyone was very friendly.

The total before tip was about $38 so it wasn't cheap. I always hate to give a bad review and I'll say it wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as I hoped. I will try them again and maybe have better luck next time.
