Lion Mart, Winchester Road, Memphis, TN

Lion Mart is a gas station at Perkins and Winchester (although they have several locations). Normally I wouldn't review somewhere like this but a friend of mine suggested it a few weeks ago. It's a gas station with a deli and restaurant and my friend told me they had really good fried chicken.

I tried it recently and was really impressed. I got four pieces of chicken with fries and a roll and it was only about $9. It's mostly to go but I think they have a couple of tables. They don't seem to have a website and it's a gas station so I won't spend much time giving a lot of details but if you're ever over that way and want some good fried chicken, this is a good choice!

Mama Rosa's is a relatively new Mexican restaurant in Olive Branch on Goodman Road at West Hamilton Circle. I went there a few weeks ago for the first time.

It was pretty good but a little overpriced for what I got. I can't remember the exact prices now. I did enjoy it but it wasn't anything spectacular for the money.

I do recommend trying it though. I would definitely go back. I got a chicken enchilada which came with rice and beans and I got a side order of queso which was decent but not great.

Firebirds is a steak and seafood restaurant in Southaven in Silo Square off of Getwell Road. It's relatively new and even though I don't normally review chain restaurants, this one is somewhat unique.

I went there a few weeks ago for the first time and was impressed. The food was good and reasonably priced for what I got and especially for a restaurant in Silo Square.

They have a three course dinner special and I got grilled salmon and shrimp with vegetables and corn with a side salad. I think the total including a drink and tax before tip was around $45 which was really reasonable for what I got.

I do recommend them and I will definitely be back.

The Kitchens is the buffet at the Southland Casino in West Memphis on Ingram Boulevard just off I-40. I went there for the first time a few weeks and was really impressed.

There were numerous food stations and a wide variety of food. On the weekends they have crab legs as well. The price isn't too bad, I think around $30 during the week which includes two alcoholic drinks if that's your thing. It is higher on the weekends but I don't know the price.

If you like buffets, this is a good one.

The Fry House, West Memphis - Home style fried food.

I went there also a few days earlier and it was very good also!

Lucky Dog is a relatively new bar and grill (and music hall) in Silo Square in Southaven off of Getwell Boulevard. I went there this past week for lunch.

I ordered a lobster roll with a side salad and an appetizer of Lucky Dog cheese fries. The fries and the salad were both really good. The lobster roll okay but I wasn't really that impressed. A friend was with me and he ordered gumbo and hot dog and he said his food was good.

I do recommend them I just won't get the lobster roll again. My total was around $42 or $43 which wasn't bad considering what I got.

Channy's is a brand new Japanese/Cambodian fusion restaurant in Horn Lake on Highway 51 a little north of Church Road. It's been open a week or so and already getting great reviews. I went there tonight and was really impressed!

I ordered Sushi Bento Box and also a Jalapeno popper appetizer and both were very good. The total including a drink before tip was only $34 which was very reasonably for the amount of food I got.

My friend ordered fried rice, a "crazy" roll" and egg rolls and he said his food was really good also.

I really liked and will be back.
