Danver's is a long time chain in Memphis but over the years all of the other locations have closed but this one on Germantown Parkway a couple of blocks north of Cordova Road. They used to make great burgers.

I went to this last location last week for dinner and found that to no longer to be true. The burger was very mediocre but to be fair, the salad and fries were pretty good and my friend said his catfish was really good.

The price was a little higher than I expected but not too bad, around $20. A one trip salad bar was $5 which I thought was a little high and the all you can eat option would have been $13 but as I said it was pretty good.

I would go back but next time I will get something besides the burger.

Jack Brown is a burger and beer joint on Central Avenue at the corner of Meda Street just east of Cooper Street. I went there a couple of days ago for the first time and it was great.

I ordered the "Greg Brady" which is a burger with homemade macaroni and cheese and barbecue potato chips on the burger. The burger was great and so were the fries I got as a side item.

The price was very reasonable for what I got, around $20 for the entire meal including a drink and tax and the service was excellent! I highly recommend this place if you like burgers.

American Deli is a chain and I usually don't review chains but I will sometimes for new locations. There is a new location in Southaven on Stateline Road a block or so west of I-55. We ordered from there at work one night a few weeks ago and I was sorely underwhelmed.

I ordered a cheeseburger with fries and an order of boneless wings with garlic Parmesan flavor. The wings had pretty much no taste and the range dressing was very weird tasting. The burger and fries were average.

The price was a little high for the amount of food I got.

Unfortunately I can't say anything good about the food I got and most of my coworkers had similar opinions.

Memphis Pizza Cafe is a local chain with several locations. Some friends and I went to the location in Midtown Memphis a few weeks while attending a training class for work. It is located on Madison Avenue a little west of Cooper Street.

The food was good but the service was a little lacking. First, it was very slow. It wasn't that busy and they seemed to be in no hurry at all considering it was lunch time. I can only assume most people that go out for lunch get an hour and we were there for longer than an hour. It took almost that long for our food to come out.

Second, we had to keep flagging our waitress down to get her attention, and again, they weren't very busy.

That said, the food was good and the prices seemed reasonable for a Midtown restaurant. I think I spent a little over $20.

I'm not sure I'll go back but I have been to other locations and the service was much better.

Saltwater Crab is a seafood and sushi restaurant on Madison Avenue at the corner of Diana Street. I went there a few weeks ago for the first time and was definitely impressed. The service was great and the food was excellent. 

The prices were reasonable for what I got. I think I spent around $30 for a couple of items and a drink. I ordered a spicy tuna jalapeno popper roll and a volcano roll.

I highly recommend them!
