Miss Dees, Batesville, MS

MAP

Miss Dees is a small cafe in Batesville on Terza Road a couple of miles south of Highway 35 North. They don't seem to have a website.

I went there a couple of weeks ago for the first time and it was FANTASTIC!

They have a limited menu, pretty much burgers, wings, chicken, bologna, and pork chop sandwich, and fish.

The double was so large I couldn't eat it all and Miss Dee is very friendly!

I can't recommend this place enough and I will make it a point to go back!

Vintage on Main, Southaven, MS

Vintage on Main

MAP

Vintage on Main is a vintage store on Main Street (Stateline Road) just east of Highway 51 on the north side. I heard about it several weeks ago and finally got over there a few days.

I met the owner who is a really nice guy and bought several items. I bought several books, a couple of which I had as a kid, a TV tray I used to have, a handheld racing game I used to have, and the entire set of Star Trek the Original Series DVD that they happen to have.

My total was only a little over $100 for everything and he gave me a Batman coffee cup too.

They have a great of selection of items and I would highly recommend checking them out if you like vintage items.

There were several other items I was interested in so I will go back and check them out again.

They are open limited hours, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM and 1 PM to 4 PM on Sunday.

I got a chicken quesadilla and my friend got a shrimp and chicken entree. I highly recommend them and will absolutely be back!

The Pancake Shop

MAP

The Pancake Shop is a small diner in Memphis on Summer Avenue just west of North Mendenhall Road on the north side. It's been there for many years and I used to go there quite a bit. They used to be open 24 hours per days but since COVID they have limited hours. They are open 6:00 AM - 1:30 PM every day except Wednesday according their website.

I went there a few days ago for breakfast and it was as good as I remember. I got the country breakfast combo and also got a side of order two pancakes. The pancakes were bigger than I expected and I didn't eat all of them.

The prices are still very reasonable. They may have gone up a little bit since COVID but if so, it's not much. Everything I got was only around $23 including a drink and tax.

I highly recommend them and I will be back! It's worth mentioning they only take cash but they do have an ATM in the restaurant.

8 Ounce Burger Bar, Horseshoe Casino, Tunica, MS

8 Ounce Burger Bar

MAP

The 8 Ounce Burger Bar is the all night cafe at Horseshoe Casino in Tunica, MS which is about 30-40 miles south of Memphis, TN (depending on where you are in Memphis). I have been there before and thought I had posted about it but apparently it was a few years ago before I was doing this blog.

I went there last week while on vacation and got a chicken nachos and then went back a week or so later and got a jalepeno burger. The chicken nachos were okay but I should have ordered beef instead. Their beef nachos are better.

If you have to pay the prices are reasonable. I think my total with a salad (both times) and a drink was around $25.

It's a great choice if you're in the area and want a late night dinner, although I'm pretty sure they are open 24 hours a day.

Other recent trips:

10th Inning Bar, Southaven, MS - Sausage and cheese plate, one of the best in the city

Frank's Pub, Robinsonville, MS - Country fried steak, also one of the best in the area

Cousin's Maine Lobster various locations

Cousin's Maine Lobster

Cousin's Maine Lobster is a food truck franchise that has locations in various cities. A few weeks ago the Nashville, TN truck was in Olive Branch, MS and I was able to stop by and try them and I must say, for the price, it was really good.

I got a Connecticut Roll (warm with melted butter), a Maine Roll (cold), and clam chowder and it was really good.

The price was around $30 or $35 for everything which is really reasonable considering at most places just a single roll is $30.

I definitely recommend checking them out if they are in your area.
