East End Grill is a bar and grill with two locations in Memphis. I used to go to there pretty often but one Sunday afternoon at the location on Highway 64 a friend of mine and I went in to have lunch and they had the overhead music system turned up so loud it was literally rattling the overhead speakers and was so distorted you almost couldn't tell what music was playing. We politely asked if they would turn it down and they actually refused to. It wasn't a Friday night with a live band or anything. I was just one afternoon after church and they had the overhead radio turned up. For a long time I refused to go back.

I went there Saturday afternoon a week ago because honestly, I went to three other places in the area that weren't open for some reason or another and I "wound up" at East End. I ordered a club sandwich and an order of fried mushrooms. The mushrooms were as good as I remembered but the club sandwich was mediocre. I don't know if they had an off day or what. It will be a while before I go back.

The bill was around $20 which isn't too bad considering what I ordered, an appetizer, a sandwich, and a drink, plus tax. The service was fine and overall it wasn't bad, I just wasn't impressed by the sandwich. I'll go back again eventually, or may try the other location out on Winchester.

Cafe Eclectic, Memphis, TN

Cafe Eclectic

MAP

Café Eclectic is a small café on McLean Boulevard just north of North Parkway, almost directly across the street from Snowden High School. I went there this morning for breakfast.

I ordered a Diablo Chicken wrap with macaroni and cheese and the "Miriam" which is grits with cheese and jalapenos. The grits were ok but honestly it's no reflection on the restaurant at all because I really don't care that much for grits, it just sounded good. If you like grits, I'm sure they are great.

The chicken wrap on the other hand was fantastic. It's spicy so don't order it if you don't like spicy food but I do. Man I can't say enough about it. I will definitely be back for more of this! The macaroni and cheese was very good also. Very creamy and thick with a great taste.

The service was great and the food came out pretty quickly. Prices are pretty reasonable. I don't remember the exact total but with tax it was around $12 or $13.

The Grind Mac and Cheese Burger Bar, Martin, TN

The Grind

MAP

The Grind is a local restaurant in Martin near UT Martin, just east of Hardy Graham Stadium on Lovelace Avenue. A friend recommended it a few weeks ago and I was in the area this past week running an errand returning a trumpet that I borrowed from a friend.

This was place great! The service was fantastic and the food was incredible. Everyone was friendly and the food came out pretty quickly. I got the Buffalo Chicken Mac and an order of stuffed jalapenos. There were several things on the menu that I wanted to try but I'll have to go back again since I wasn't even able to eat all of the entrée. The total for everything including tax and tip was a little over $26.00, not bad at all for the amount of food I got and the quality.

I highly recommend them if you get a chance.

Jason's Deli, Various Locations

Jason's Deli

Locations

Jason's Deli is a chain sandwich shop with various locations. I normally don't review chains so I'm going to keep this short and to the point. I went for the first time to the location in Cordova this past Sunday with a group from my church and based on a recommendation, I got the salad bar. It was really good and I was impressed.

I went again this past Tuesday night to the location in Olive Branch, MS and got the salad bar again. It was also just as good. It's not a large salad bar but it has just the right things on it. It's fairly reasonably priced at about $8.99. My total with a drink was about $12.00. I haven't had any of their sandwiches but they looked pretty good from what I saw. It seems a pretty significant number of people go there for the salad bar.

It's one of the few chain places that I recommend trying.
