Cafe Piazza is a somewhat upscale Italian restaurant in Collierville on the south east corner of the downtown square just on the south side of the railroad tracks. I went there last Saturday night for dinner. I originally ordered the daily steak special but it was late in the day and they were out of the steak. To replace it I ordered roasted leg of lamb with mashed potatoes and a spicy pimento and cheese appetizer.

I had been there before but not since I've been keeping this blog. It was fantastic and I highly recommend it!

The prices are not cheap but not extremely pricey. My total was about $55 with tax and tip and it was worth every penny.

This is one of those few posts that makes my blog "mostly food."

This past week I was in Savannah on vacation and had a minor issue that I needed to get checked out. I went to several places but wound up going to these to and actually getting my car looked at. It turned out to be a non-issue but both places were very professional.

Elvis Garage is on Florence Road a couple of blocks south of Main Street. He pulled the car into his shop but couldn't get the car on the rack (a common problem with Corvettes) but was very friendly and seemed very knowledgeable. He inspected the car as well as he could and said he didn't see any leaks and didn't charge anything since he could actually lift it. I'm assuming he's an Elvis Presley fan. He had the haircut and everything!

Haskins is on Harrison Street a couple of blocks south of Highway 64. They were actually able to get the car up the rack and inspect it. They made an appointment for me and got me in quickly and only charged $21 for the inspection. Many places charge a full hour's labor or some fee much higher than $21. They were also very friendly and knowledgeable. They are also gun friendly if that's of interest to you. They have "legal guns welcome" sign at the front.

I also got my hair cut at a place called All American Barber Shop on Florence Road right by Elvis while I was there. I forget his name but he was very friendly and the haircut was only $16. Most places near me in Southaven charge $21 or more. He doesn't seem to have a website which is why I didn't list one.

I you're in the area and need any of these services I would recommend any of them.

Halle's Hangout is a family restaurant on Wayne Road in Savannah right at the corner of Jackson Street. I went there this past week for lunch and it was really good. The service was fantastic and I highly recommend it if you're in the area.

I had trouble deciding what to get. They have a daily buffet but the country fried steak looked really good, but I someone earlier that day recommended the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich which also sounded really good. I wound up getting the country fried steak with seasoned fries and a salad.

The steak was huge and very reasonably priced the total with a drink before tip was only about $16. The steak covered most of the plate. They have a small salad bar so I made my own salad which was very good also.

I want to go back and try the sandwich but several things on the menu sounded good.

The Pizza Grocery is an Italian restaurant in downtown Corinth on Cruise Street a little south west of the Post Office. It's worth mentioning it has its own parking lot since many of the businesses downtown don't.

I went there this past week while on vacation. I ordered chicken Parmesan and a salad and it was really good. I ordered the half order and it was plenty of food. My cousin and I also split an order of fried green tomatoes.

The service was very good also. We sat downstairs and did not have any issues but it's also worth mentioning that the downstairs is an enclosed area and if you have trouble with ambient noise, you should ask for a table that is not in that part of the restaurant.

The prices were very reasonable for what I got and I highly recommend it!

Emerald's is a family restaurant in Waynesboro on the southwest corner of the downtown square. This past week I was on vacation visiting a cousin who lives near there and we found it randomly. The food was great and I would highly recommend it if you're in the area.

I ordered grilled salmon which was fantastic. My cousin ordered a vegetable pasta dish and she said it was very good also.The service was great and everyone was very friendly.

The prices were reasonable but unfortunately I don't know exactly how much the total was. It happened to be my birthday and my cousin paid.

Normally I give each restaurant its own page but these two are together in the same business. They are located on Getwell Road in Southaven just north of Nail Road by the Guaranty Bank.

I went there this past Saturday night. I ordered a ham sandwich from I Need Coffee and a Jacksonville Roll from Sushi Now. Both were good. The price of the one roll and a bottled drink was about $19 and the price of the sandwich with chips was almost $15 so the prices aren't cheap but the food was pretty good. I don't remember which roll my friend ordered. He also ordered General Tso's Chicken and said it was good.

They are relatively new and weren't all that busy. I would definitely go back but it just wouldn't be my first choice for sushi. Overall I still think Saki Endless Sushi is the best deal in town because it's all you can eat for one price.

T.J. Mulligan's is an Irish pub with three locations in the Memphis area. I went to the Cordova location this Sunday for lunch on my way to a rehearsal. I used to go there quite a bit when I worked in the area but I hadn't been in several years.

I ordered a burger and fries and it was pretty good. The food was always good there. The prices are about average. I think my total was around $15 for a burger, fries, and drink including tax.

I definitely recommend them if you're in the area.

Vampire Penguin is a shaved ice dessert shop in Southaven in the new Silo Square shopping center. I went there a few weeks ago but apparently didn't post about it. I went there again this past Saturday. I had never heard of shaved ice until I went there for the first time.

I ordered the Cookie's and Cream flavor both times and it is very good. They seem to be a little pricey. The smallest they have is $9 and bottled drinks are $2.50.

That said, it's really good and I will be definitely be back.

The Wing Haven is a small wing restaurant on Goodman Road near Swinnea Road right next door to Mcalister's Deli. I saw it a few days ago and wanted to try it. I went there this past Saturday and ordered catfish and a side order of boneless garlic Parmesan wings.

The catfish was pretty good but the wings were mediocre. I think it was the flavor so I'm planning on going back to try a different kind. The catfish came with seasoned fries that were pretty good.

The prices seemed a little high for a fast food style restaurant. I don't remember the total but the catfish was $18 for three pieces, however the pieces of fish were pretty big so I guess it just depends on your opinion. The wings were $12 or $13. My total was over $30 I think.

I was originally going to try a burger but he was out of beef that day. I'm going to go back and try a burger and a different flavor of wings.

I recommend you try them if you like wings or catfish. Other than the prices that seemed a little high I don't really have any complaints.

Pop's is a small restaurant in Millington at the corner of Navy Road and Bethuel Road. I had to be in Millington this past Wednesday for an errand and stopped here for breakfast. I don't like traditional breakfast food all that much so I ordered a club sandwich.

It was very good and I will be back! I also met the very friendly owner who was sitting at the table next to me. She recommended the burger I'm going to try that next time.

The prices were pretty good. My total was around $12 or $13 with a drink. I definitely recommend it if you're in the area!

Smacker's is a small restaurant on Highway 64 and they also have a location on Walnut Street near Elmwood Cemetery. I went to the Highway 64 location for dinner yesterday. I was told it was a burger shop but they sell all sorts of sandwiches and a few other items.

I got the Smack Burger which comes with a fried egg, "Smack" sauce, and all the other usual burger toppings and it was really good! The service was fantastic and I will definitely be back.

Prices are reasonable. My total with a drink was around $12 for a burger combo and drink.

Castle is a small Mediterranean restaurant near the corner Park Avenue and Getwell Road in the same shopping center as Las Delicias. I went there last week for the first time and it was really good.

I ordered a gyro sandwich combo with fries and a drink. I had never had a gyro before so I don't much about them but it was really good and I will definitely be back!

The total was around $12 and it was plenty of food. I definitely recommend trying them.
